Global Resource Design Inc. (GRDi) currently has an opportunity for an Intermediate/Senior Automation Specialist to join our growing team in Calgary. GRDi has fast paced, challenging and ongoing career opportunities for the right candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, development and technical specifications for Controls System projects.
  • Control system architecture and communication system design.
  • Detailed control system design including discipline P&ID input, loop drawings, shutdown key development and control philosophies.
  • Provide Controls discipline input during HAZOP and design reviews.
  • DeltaV, Rockwell and Honeywell DCS Programming and HMI development including field commissioning and start up an asset.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work in one discipline/project/staff group.
  • Maintain frequent contact with client, vendors, and internal staff.
  • Assist in the review of  project controls, cost estimates, quantity take-offs and manpower.
  • Plan, coordinate and prepare equipment or work specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations for project equipment.
  • Deliver high quality written documentation and engineering work packages.
  • Field commissioning and start-up experience – high customer service mindset.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years working in industry experience.
  • Able to adapt to various situations quickly, while adhering to daily deadlines.
  • Strong software computer proficiencies – Word, Excel Access, VB, SQL and Outlook.
  • Good written, spoken and consultative skills.
  • Engineer with a P. Eng accredited by APEGA, CET, RET, or P.Tech(Eng) would be an asset.
  • Experience in both PLC and DCS configuration and graphic development, RTU experience would be an asset.
  • Experience with instrumentation and flow metering an asset.
    • Field commissioning and start-up experience – high customer service mindset.
    • Travel approximately 25% of the time within Western Canada and United States.
    • Must have valid driver’s license.
    • Applicants with experience in Oil & Gas preferred.
